School teachers of all kinds were celebrated in the national 'Teachers' Oscars' awards on Sunday (October 30th).
Broadcast live on BBC2, the Pearson Teaching Awards honoured teachers and teaching assistants in recognition of their contribution to the profession and to the lives of their students.
Perhaps the most celebrated award of all, the Tedd Wragg Award for Lifetime Achievement, was presented to 71-year-old secondary art teacher Jeff Stratton.
A teacher for 50 years, Mr Stratton was celebrated for being a "master of imagination" due to his incredible capacity to inspire students and teachers alike.
Collecting his award, Mr Stratton said: "If you can enthuse kids you should keep on. If it's your vocation, what are you doing retiring?" the BBC reported.
The Teacher of the Year award was presented to primary school teacher Christine Emmett.
Judges said that Ms Emmett's "enthusiasm, energy and appetite" to inspire youngsters knew no bounds.
Chingford Hall Primary School's headteacher Patricia Davies won the award for Headteacher of the Year.
Having overseen one of the biggest transformations of a primary school in a deprived area of London, Ms Davies was congratulated for making an "astonishing difference" to children's lives.
