Primary school teacher wins Contribution to School Sport award

A dedicated primary school teacher has been presented with a prestigious award for his tireless efforts in helping young people get fit and healthy.

Andrew Reeves, 32, has spent the last decade making sure that pupils at his Fairmeadows Foundation Primary School in Newhall, South Derbyshire, can get involved in a diverse range of sports activities and competitions, the Burton Mail reported.

As recognition for his continuous commitment and passion, PE Teacher Mr Reeves was presented with the South Derbyshire Contribution to School Sport 2011 award.

Clare Hodson-Walker, head teacher at the school, told the local newspaper: “Andrew has the best interests of the children at heart in everything he does.

“He has a fantastic sense of humour, making sport fun and accessible to our pupils."

Mr Reeves has led the school's basketball, cricket, football, hockey and rugby teams to success as well as helping other teachers in his school lead PE lessons by sharing his skills and experience.
