Pupils at one Devon primary school took part in a hands-on history lesson last week when they stepped back to the Victorian era.
Youngsters at Wolborough Church of England Primary School in Newton Abbot took part in a special Victorian day, with pupils dressing in old-fashioned clothing, the Herald Express reports.
Some of the children even dressed up as chimney sweeps, swapping their school uniforms for dusty black overalls and hats.
The pupils were taught as they would have been during Victorian times, with boys and girls being segregated.
A spokesperson for the school told the newspaper: "All the children had great fun and gained so much from the real experience they had.
"The children unanimously agreed that teachers were much stricter, the lessons weren't as fun and they found it hard being quiet all day."
In related news, a headteacher from Lancashire was forced to say sorry last week after a history lesson at his school proved to be a little too scary.
Children at St Mary's School in Bacup were told that Britain had gone to war as part of a lesson on World War II, but the exercise was abandoned after some youngsters became distressed.
