Employees in teaching jobs in south Wales are readying themselves for a radical overhaul in the way education is administered in the area.

A new super-school is to be built in Ceredigion which will house children from age three all the way up to 19, after council leaders gave the project initial approval.

The proposals for the £60 million school will now go before the full council for a final decision on the plans, the South Wales Evening Post reported.

Should the council give its approval, an existing school at Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi will be demolished and five primary schools will be closed, with all the pupils being housed at the new institution.

The new development will be built near Llandysul and local councillor Keith Evans said the Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi school desperately needed replacing.

School pupils in Wales will also be able to gain from a new planetarium being built in partnership with the University of Glamorgan, the Daily Post reported.
