Etiquette classes 'to be run by those in teaching jobs'

Those in teaching jobs at a school in Wales will be conducting lessons in etiquette over the coming terms.

Children aged between three and 18 at Llandovery College in Carmarthenshire will get instruction on how to use cutlery, write thank you letters and behave in public, the Metro reports.

Guidance will also be given on areas such as sporting etiquette, not talking over people and, for girls, how to get out of a car with knees together.

Lyn Jones, the college's director of marketing and admissions, said the school hopes "that our programme puts old-fashioned manners into a modern context".

Ms Jones added that she had attended a finishing school and felt that modern celebrities were not setting a good example for students to follow - especially when it came to getting out of a car.

The region of Carmarthenshire has 27,000 school age pupils and 1,700 teachers at its 131 schools, although it is unclear if the etiquette lessons are to be extended to other institutions.
