Smaller class sizes and fewer working hours could help staff in
teaching jobs deal with the stress of having to work in a "challenging" school, Christine Blower, the general secretary of the National Union of Teachers has said according to a news report.
"I think most teachers working in challenging circumstances would prefer less teaching time - people should have some time in their working day to reflect on their practice," Ms Blower told the Guardian.
She went on to say that classrooms with a large number of pupils as well as constant monitoring by education watchdog Ofsted add to the pressure education staff feel.
"Unfortunately the prevailing ethos is not to come in and make positive suggestions, but to come in and say, 'No better than last time'," she explained.
In other news, shadow secretary of state for children, schools and families Michael Gove has said that staff in teaching jobs at some of England's high-flying state schools would see an end to Ofsted inspections under a Tory government.
