Tech event promotes computer gaming in the classroom

Head teachers, staff in teaching jobs and regional education consultants from Bradford took part in an event aimed at explaining how technology can aid learning, a local news report has said.

According to The Telegraph and Argus, a series of speakers at the bMobile conference informed the education staff about the successful integration of computer gaming across the school curriculum.

Keynote speaker Tim Rylands, who won the Beta ICT In Practice Award in 2005 for his innovative use of technology in lessons, was quoted as saying by the publication: "I came here to look at different ways to inspire children's writing and problem-solving."

He added: "It is about so much more than computer games. It is not about the technology, it's what they say to children. It’s more about communication."

In related news, most staff in teaching jobs believe that information and communication technologies have "a positive impact on pupils", according to Becta, the government agency.
