Primary teachers at a Trowbridge school organised a number of activities for children sitting their Sats exams last week, a local news report has said.

According to This is Wiltshire, year six pupils at Newtown primary school took exams from Monday to Thursday, but in the afternoons enjoyed arts, crafts and activities.

"The children will have sat exams every morning except Friday and so in the afternoons we’ve organised as many little distractions as possible to keep their spirits up," head teacher Tom Hill was quoted as saying by the publication.

On Wednesday, Anna Liddle from the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament visited the school and talked to pupils about world peace and made origami peace doves with them.

In other news, Nick Seaton, chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, has said that scrapping key stage two Sats would "do away with objective testing for the whole of the primary sector".
