Labour responsible for 'massive' teaching jobs increase

The last decade has heralded an unprecedented rise in the number of teaching jobs available to people seeking education recruitment, a government spokesperson has claimed.

According to a Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) representative, labour has ensured a widespread increase in education recruitment, leaving local authorities responsible for individual failings in keeping class sizes down.

They told the Telegraph: "Over the last ten years we have massively increased the number of adults teaching children.

"Over 98 per cent of infant classes are under the statutory limit and the average size is 26.2."

The DCSF spokesperson was responding to new figures which appear to show that over 10,000 pupils in England are currently being taught in classes containing more than 40 pupils.

Liberal Democrat schools spokesperson David Laws, who represents the constituency of Yeovil, is one of several opposition ministers who has expressed concern regarding the newly published statistics.
