Education recruitment drive for finance experts

An education recruitment drive has been announced by Schools Secretary Ed Balls, who hopes to employ approximately 1,000 people as school bursars in England.

The new education job appointments will be made over the next four years, according to Mr Balls, with each new recruit responsible for helping up to five schools save up to £30,000 each annually from the administrative side of their budgets.

Mr Balls said: "Schools bursars […] help heads save money and allow them to maintain the record numbers of teachers and teaching assistants in classrooms across the country."

He added that the savings which result from the appointment of the bursars will be redirected towards frontline services, which should help preserve the approximately 41,000 teacher jobs and 120,000 classroom assistant jobs created by the government.

The Training and Development Agency recently revealed a 52 per cent rise in the number of men applying for primary teacher jobs in the past 12 months.
