Midlands head teachers commended for outstanding schools

The head teachers of two schools in Derbyshire have been praised for earning themselves a place in the annual list of institutions offering "outstanding" education, according to a local news report.

Kate Marsland, of Morley Primary, and Jan Davis, of Longwood Infant School in Pinxton, attended an event held by Christine Gilbert, the government's chief inspector of education, children's services and skills.

"There is no real secret. It's just a case of getting a good team of teachers and staff working together with enthusiasm to ensure the children learn and develop to the best of their abilities," Mrs Davis was quoted as saying in the Derby Telegraph.

Miss Marsland, whose school was judged to be "outstanding" for a third time, commended the staff, pupils and governors at her school, who "have played a key part in our success."
