Poll shows Labour 'more popular on education'

Labour plans for the education sector are more popular with the general public than Conservative reforms a survey has shown, in news which may be of interest to staff in teaching jobs.

A ComRes survey conducted on behalf of the BBC's Newsnight programme found 27 per cent of those interviewed about their views on the education sector believe the Labour Party has the best proposals for educational reform, compared to 25 per cent who said they preferred the Conservative model.

Liberal Democrat policies were less popular, according to the poll, with just 10 per cent of those questioned claiming they represent the best way forward for schools, university institutions and staff in education jobs.

The survey also suggested that all three parties still have time to win over voters - including those in teaching jobs - before the next general election, as 26 per cent responded that they are still unsure which party has the right ideas for the education sector.
