Secondary teacher aims to boost physics popularity in East of England

Secondary teacher David Richardson has hit the roads of East Anglia in a bid to prove to pupils that physics can be fun.

Backed by the Institute of Physics (IoP) and the National Science Learning Centre, Mr Richardson has been taking his Ever Wondered Why? roadshow to schools across the East of England, most recently appearing at Framingham Earl High School, near Norwich.

He tells Norwich Evening News: "I have an overwhelming passion to teach and to see young people learn physics.

"I am motivated by helping them realise that physics is not dull but rather that physics is at the root of almost everything that makes life exciting."

Mr Richardson employs a variety of gadgets and gizmos in his quest to show just how exciting physics can be, including smoke machines and exploding hydrogen balloons, according to the newspaper.

The IoP is a scientific charity devoted to increasing the practice, understanding and application of physics, with a worldwide membership of over 36,000.
