Pupils at one primary school in Gloucestershire are being encouraged to read and learn outside.

Camping shop Go Outdoors has donated a number of tents to Widden Primary School, with teachers placing them in the outdoor learning area.

According to the Gloucester Citizen, youngsters are allowed to bring their books outside and enjoy some quiet reading time in the tents.

Headteacher Tim Cooper told the newspaper: "They have been used to enhance the children's reading experience and they are absolutely loving them.

"They can just take a book and go and read it in the tent. It is all part of their outdoor learning work."

In other Gloucester education news, Olympic rower Steve Williams recently opened a new £70,000 sensory garden at St Rose's Special School.

The facility was built with the help of the Wooden Spoon charity.
