A primary teacher at a Devon school may be celebrating after a study of bumblebees by pupils became the first primary school project to feature in a Royal Society scientific journal.
The group of children from Blackawton School studied bumblebees with the help of a scientist and found that they could be "trained" to recognise patterns of colour.
The children were aged between eight and ten and the news may be encouraging to those looking into taking a job as a primary teacher specialising in scientific subjects.
Neuroscientist Dr Beau Lotto, who helped the children with the project, said the fact that science work is "full of uncertainty" is what makes it so exciting.
Meanwhile, the British Beekeepers' Association is asking the government for more money to fund research into diseases which are threatening the British bee population.
