Midlands school uses music to beat bullies

According to the Birmingham Mail, around 250 children between the ages of eight and 11 were treated to the musical lesson when a singer-songwriter visited them.

Lotte Mullan, who suffered bullying as a child, wanted to share her experiences with those at Priory Primary School, claims the local newspaper.

The school's deputy head teacher Elizabeth Riley told the news source the youngsters had really enjoyed the 50-minute session.

"It is always good to have an outsider come into the school and talk to the children and when it features something they can relate to such as pop music, it is even better," she noted.

"The children were very responsive and afterwards they were doing research on Lotte on the internet and looking for her singing on Youtube," added Ms Riley.

The Birmingham Mail is currently running an anti-bullying campaign called Speak Out, Stop Bullying, which includes an online survey gathering readers' experiences.
