A Burnley school has devised a special year-long plan to help alleviate the stress of moving schools for pupils.

Those with teaching jobs at the special needs school have put together a collection of sound recordings and photograph albums with recorded messages to help familiarise students with their future environment, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.

Ridgewood Community High School's headteacher Frances Entwistle told the paper: "We looked at our school traditions, what is special about the school and the important things we want to keep.

"It's more than just books, it's the environment, the ethos and how we are with each other."

The school will be moving sites at the end of this term as part of the government's Building Schools for the Future Scheme.

Jointly sharing the new premises with Sir John Thursby Community College, the two schools buried a time capsule earlier this year to commemorate the occasion.
