Those with teaching jobs in Sheffield have seen their pupils be invited by a team of architects to help design new schools around the UK.

Bond Bryan Architects plans to incorporate the young people's best suggestions into future designs, reports the South Yorkshire Star.

Pupils at St Mary's Primary, Myer's Grove and Wisewood schools are being asked to think about what is good and bad about their current schools for the My Space for Learning initiative.

Speaking to the paper, architect Rosie Dodgson said: "We have been designing schools for over a decade but we feel we can always learn more and who better to teach us than the end users?"

Bond Bryan has a history of collaborating with young people and 2006 saw the opening of the student-inspired David Young Community Academy in Leeds.

Ideas generated by the academy's students included providing more social spaces for pupils than in a traditional school.
