DCSF gives Yorkshire schools £1.5m

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has provided £1.5 million to help redevelop two Yorkshire schools.

Analby Primary School and Swinemoor Primary School in Beverley will use the funding to build new facilities and bring together existing family services.

The largest part of the funding (£1.2 million) will go to work on the Swinemoor campus and help children's services to work more closely with the school.

A further £300,000 will then go to the Analby project and be used to extend the school's children's centre.

Alison Waller, director of children, family and adult services, says the money is part of an "ongoing commitment to integrate our services for children and young people".

By improving current facilities and uniting children's workers under the same roof, the funding "will make a huge difference in terms of improving communication and understanding of how other services work".

Special needs teachers work across subjects to help pupils and where possible follow the National Curriculum.
