Sutton Benger primary school, Chippenham, is celebrating its new success after receiving an outstanding grade in its most recent Ofsted report, the Gazette and Herald reports.

Only four years ago teachers and their teaching assistants were working in a school that had been placed under special measures.

"This is fantastic news for the whole school community as it places us amongst the most highly performing schools nationally," commented headteacher Suzanne Lloyd.

Children joined in the celebrations by releasing rainbow-coloured balloons and had their picture taken from a helicopter as they formed a heart shape on nearby playing fields.

Chair of governors Rod Moor-Bardell added his compliments and thanked Ms Lloyd, her staff and the children.

"The imagination, creativity and energy at the school is very evident and we can be proud of our children and their achievements," he said.

Ofsted regulates the performance of schools and has recently revised the framework it uses to rate their performance.ADNFCR-2164-ID-19219900-ADNFCR
