Pupils from Kent's primary schools will travel to France to compete in a mini rugby tournament on June 5th, thisiskent.co.uk has reported.

The Pas-de-Calais Sports Union of Physical Education opened up its competition to all schools in the Dover, Deal and Sandwich area after Warden House School in Deal won events last year.

The county will be represented by mixed-gender teams, which will compete in the tournament in Calais.

"The children have been very committed to the training and to the messages given in regard to healthy eating.

"They should all be congratulated for their hard work," said Pete Norton, from the Dover District School Sport Partnership, which helped organise this year's training.

In related news, the Bury Times has reported that David Wilson, a 40-year-old college lecturer from Bury, has been called up to represent his country at touch rugby.

Mr Wilson, a business studies lecturer, has been playing for his local side Bolton RUFC since 2005.
