Ofsted has heaped praise on a school in Nottinghamshire following a recent inspection.

Carlton-le-Willows School and sixth form in Gedling was described as having a high standard of teaching with 71 per cent of pupils achieving five A* to C grades at GCSE level.

In the report, lead inspector Dilip Kadodwala said: "Their [students] personal development and well being, including their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding because the school's expectations of students are very clear and consistent."

Headteacher Michael Naisbitt told the Nottingham Evening Post that the report was a "pleasure" to read and that he was delighted the hard work of the staff had been recognised.

However, he also said the school must continue to improve in the future or it could move backwards.

The school currently has 1,370 pupils according to the newspaper but will soon be looking for a new headteacher as Mr Naisbitt will retire at the end of term.ADNFCR-2164-ID-19155046-ADNFCR
