A teacher from a Gloucestershire school has been nominated for Special Needs Teacher of the Year at the upcoming West of England Teaching Awards, it has been reported.

In news that may interest school staff and special needs co-ordinators, Susan Lambourn from Chipping Campden School is one of many who could be recognised for their contribution to education at an award ceremony in Bath on June 8th, the Gloucestershire Citizen reports.

Caroline Evans, chief executive of the Teaching Awards, commented: "This is an opportunity to witness the skill, devotion, passion and professionalism that teachers bring to their work.

"The influence of these individuals on the lives of children and their families can't be underestimated."

Making its first appearance at the ceremony, the special needs award is named after Happy Days television star Henry Winkler in recognition of his contribution as a children's author and patron of the Teaching Awards.
