A 67-year-old woman has been so committed to her teaching assistant job that she has remained in the role at the same school for a quarter of a century.

According to the Halifax Courier, Anne Bridges has just celebrated 25 years in her position.

Having worked at the Sacred Heart Primary School in Sowerby for all this time, she is now teaching the children of some of her former pupils.

To mark the special occasion, school staff presented Mrs Bridges with a buffet lunch and a basket of flowers.

And the committed teaching assistant told the paper that she plans to remain in the role for the time being.

"It is a lovely place to work. I will stay as long as I am able to," she stated.

Research conducted by Ofsted last year found that the presence of higher level teaching assistants and learning mentors serves to boost the results of under-achieving pupils.
