Montessori teaching jobs are proving increasingly popular in the wake of the current economic downturn, it has been reported.

According to the Independent, a growing number of people are applying for training for the teaching technique, which involves learning through play.

This follows news that the education sector as a whole has received a boost this year, with record number of applications for training in teaching posts reported by the Training and Development Agency for Schools.

With the body also reporting that one in ten workers are considering moving into classroom work, it may come as no surprise that teaching jobs in the Montessori sector have also been given a boost.

"People are more interested – maybe there is something positive in horrible situations. This is an opportunity for people to think about what they really want from their lives," academic director of Montessori Centre International Barbara Isaacs told the paper.

Another thing that might attract people to working in Montessoris is the flexible process involved in the training, noted the news provider.
