Newham headteachers get insight on Bangladeshi schools

A group of headteachers from schools across Newham in London have visited Sylhet in Bangladesh to get an insight into local life, reports the Newham Recorder.

Eight headteachers from schools including Brampton and Vicarage primaries, Elmhurst, Hallsville and Calverton took part in the visit that was paid for by the British Council in a bid to form a better understanding of Bangladeshi pupils in their London schools.

Most of the families of Bangladeshi pupils across London originate from Sylhet, so it was an opportunity to see how teachers can reach out to the children in London schools.

The experiences of the eight headteachers will be shared with teachers in other parts of the UK where there are sizable Bangladeshi communities.

In other news, teachers at Brentford School for Girls in London have decided to wear false moustaches throughout November to help raise awareness of prostate cancer as part of the 'Movember' campaign, according to a report from the Hounslow Guardian.
