A city-wide social experiment involving thousands of Birmingham children reportedly aims to help youngsters control their emotions.
The Birmingham Post claims the two-year pilot scheme will commence in 30 selected primary schools when children return from the half term break.
Education researcher Professor Mark Greenberg, who devised the Paths programme,told the newspaper the experiment involved encouraging kids to interact more and be more self-controlled.
"It's about improving their social skills, investing in them to build a healthy classroom, but it's also about encouraging good behaviour," he explained.
Costing a total of £1.2 million, the Midlands city council is hoping the scheme will repeat the programme's earlier successes in the US and the Netherlands.
In related news, the government has confirmed Staffordshire is among 11 areas selected for a new trial aiming to encourage participation in learning post-16.
