According to the East London Advertiser, nine London schools are named on the list, including Bonner Primary in Bethnal Green and Cubitt Town Junior on the Isle of Dogs.
The twenty schools in England that made Ofsted's list are said to defy the link between disadvantage and low standards.
Chief schools inspector Christine Gilbert, former chief executive at Tower Hamlets, said "These schools show others how they can reduce the gap between pupils from different backgrounds."
She added: "They provide great service to children through their professionalism, where children are treated as individuals and staff are passionate about finding ways of doing things better."
In related news, the schools watchdog has launched two new resources for music teachers as part of the government's Year of Music programme.
