The recruitment and retention of quality teachers and support staff is the cornerstone of our service. This is what enables our matching system to ensure that you get the right person every time you place a booking with us.
Our focus on ensuring that we recruit the highest quality staff means that we are able to provide cover for both long-term and day-to-day bookings, as well as respond to your needs for permanent staff
Teacher recruitment
Teaching Personnel makes a significant investment in recruiting teachers and support staff. Advertising and promotional activity takes place on a national, regional and local basis and is planned to ensure that our coverage both across the UK and throughout the school year is comprehensive.
To attract the best applicants, we emphasise the support we provide to teachers, the quality of the relationships we have with schools and the genuine opportunity we present for teachers to make an impact in every school where they are placed.
We operate rigorous quality control in all aspects of teacher recruitment, ensuring that only suitably qualified and experienced teachers are made available to work in schools.
Teacher retention
Once a teacher has joined Teaching Personnel, we provide the highest levels of support and development in order that they remain with us. After all, many schools call us regularly and ask for a particular teacher. We aim to be able to meet that requirement.
As soon as we make a teacher available for work we provide them with a free welcome pack containing a range of items that will be invaluable whilst they are working with Teaching Personnel. The pack includes details of the DfES Self Study Packs for Supply Teachers, a guide to the legal responsibilities of supply teachers and an exclusive professional magazine subscription offer.
However, we also recognise that teacher pay is probably the most effective retention tool. We use a system of variable pay rates and performance enhancements to ensure that we retain the services of the best quality teachers.
In addition, Teaching Personnel offers access to a range of added value products designed to help meet the needs of supply teachers (including pension, healthcare and income protection products).
Teaching Personnel also provides a range of self-study modules to enable teachers to maintain their professional development. The subjects covered by these modules include classroom and behaviour management, the use of ICT and the literacy and numeracy hours. Our aim is to make working with Teaching Personnel a highly rewarding and attractive option.
